'How do you make sure my data is save?', 'What measures do you take to make Accountable breach-free?', 'Is my data encrypted?' Those are questions we hear quite often - and rightly so! After all, users provide very personal information and financial details to do their taxes and accounting with Accountable. So here you learn how we ensure the security of your data.

This is how we secure your data and privacy

Accountable cannot succeed without the trust of our users. That's why we do everything we can to protect your data. For us, it's without question that only the Finanzamt gets your needed data. That's why we have a strict security procedure to secure your privacy and your data in the app. What does that mean exactly? We use recognized security standards like the 256-Bit SSL certificate to encrypt your confidential data. We also have a PSD2 license under the supervision of the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) in Bonn (Richtlinie (EU) 2015/2366).

External and internal audits

Accountable is regularly audited and subject to strict reporting requirements. Therefore, official penetration tests are conducted every year by external companies. Thus, all applications and systems are audited and tested for security against hacker attacks. In addition, we regularly perform internal security checks. ➡️ If you want to know more about how we make sure your data is correct and the app computes your taxes, click here!

How we protect your account information

We strictly adhere to banking industry procedures for data management and encryption. All data transfers as well as our drives are encrypted. Of course, we also only work with official and reliable banks. Also with our banking API finAPI we guarantee the highest security of your bank account link. The provider from Munich belongs to SCHUFA and is considered an established software for financial service providers like Accountable.

How we protect your app login

Your password

Simple encryption is not enough for us given the sensitivity of your data in Accountable. Therefore, we use the methods of password hashing and salted passwords. By storing your password as a hash, it is converted into a string of characters and symbols that is very difficult to decrypt. Because once converted into a hash, it cannot be recovered. Furthermore, we salt your hashed password on top of that. This means that an additional random combination of numbers and digits is added, which is generated individually and randomly for each user. This method ensures a higher level of data protection.

Biometric Login

As an alternative to a password, you can log in to your app using fingerprint and facial recognition. These unique biological features are very difficult to copy or steal.
